Ok, so I recently added my new girlfriend to my cell plan with AT&T. I got her an 8-gig IPhone 3GS since they now have Voice Over due to being the only 3GS models still in production. And while she's been making excellent progress with it (even learning in a atter of days to do things that took me weeks to figure out), we've got a rather perplexing and frustrating quirk. Sometimes when she's texting she'll double tap something on the screen and the IPod will start playing music even though the IPod App wasn't actually loaded. This is annoying since the only way to stop it appears to be to exit the message she's working on, load up the IPod and hit the Pause button before exiting it and returning to the message. ut it's extremely frustrating when she tries to enter a letter and sudenly music starts playing. I've done this occasionally myself but I'm unsure as to why it would act like that. I've heard that if you shake the phone it can sometimes trigger the IPod but whether that's true or not I don't know. But any advice would be greatly appreciated since this is extremely weird.
She is probably double-tapping with two-fingers which turns music on if there's a radio app or music on it. All she has to do is double-tap with two fingers again & it'll shut off & she can continue texting. Good luck
Hmmm. Would that affect just the IPod though? I'll have to experiment with that. I've done the same thing a few times myself but it seems to happen a lot with Terri. It almost makes her afraid to text LOL. Wich would be sad because she really loves the phone a lot better than the Android model she had before. That phone had its own free speach software but the damn thing wouldn't shut up. It kept telling her she had new voicemail every five seconds but when she actually checked the phone there wasn't any. She was a little concerned about the touch screen but aside from the music coming on and off she's having a lot less trouble with it than she was expecting.
yep i thought the same when reading this. she must be doing a two finger double tap. when texting just use one finger to double tap and maek sure the others aren't touching. good luck. hope it works. if she starts the music and don't mean too, like was already said do a two finger double tap and it should stop again.
Well that seemed to work when I experimented on my own phone so we'll see if Terri has the same luck. At leasther phone doesn't keep announcing that she has new voicemail every five seconds when she clearly doesn't.
Try changing the typing mode to touch typing. This works by putting your finger on a letter and once you remove your finger the letter is typed. I use this all the time and it makes typing faster.
Yes, in the words of Shakespeare, touch typing kicketh ass. When she needs to split tap, just hold the first finger on the screen for half a second before pressing with the second one.
And how do you change that again?
i use the normal tiping mode. it works 4 me.- yay:
The typing mode setting is in the roter menu. It only appears when your typing, so just find it when you have the keyboard on the screen.
